Nobody knows your face better than you. Moreover, you know all of its good sides and all of its bad sides. It is not always objective and you simply may have preferences about your face that only you can see. It is all valid because, at the end of the day, beauty is all about how you feel about yourself. However, makeup helps. And it helps a lot. Especially when it is done properly and you know how to do contouring well. Here are the five simple steps about how to do it really well.
Step 1: Tools and Products
There is no good master of any trade without all the proper tools and products. In this case all those tools and products are actually the brushes, moisturizers, concealers and the foundation. Their careful mixing and blending are the basic idea of the whole contouring thing. The brushes need to be perfect and you need them to be able to blend the products together perfectly. On the other hand, make sure that all of the products that you use have similar texture and density or they won’t match well. You will need foundations in two shades, one darker and one lighter than your skin.
Step 2: Make the Frame
Once you have all the basics covered up and that means that you have applied the moisturizer and locked it up with the primer, you need to frame your face. You will do that by applying the darker shades on the frames of your face. Start by the line that goes from above of your temples, right to your hairline and curves down to the middle of your cheek, dividing the upper and the lower part of your face. Make another brushstroke and curve it down to frame the jawline as well. This will make the face look thinner and the cheekbones more prominent.

Step 3: Do the Cheekbones
The general rule is to fake the perfect cheekbones in order to look beautiful. To do that, without the surgery, of course, you need to make sure that you have completed the first two steps. Now, you can use the lighter foundation or even the concealer and apply it to the cheekbones. Some will even recommend finding some shimmering product as well to make them even better. It is enough to apply the horizontal line as the frame that you made is already making them stand out.
Step 4: Work the Nose and Eyes
The nose is some tricky business and the shades around it need to be done perfectly. If you have done something with it, like injectable rhinoplasty, you need to use the light and the dark shades to touch up the job done. Darker lines along the side of the nose will make it look narrower and straighter while the light shades will make it wider. Light shades around the sides of the eyes in the crescent shape will make the eyes stand out, perhaps even steal the attention from the nose.
Step 5: The Jawline
Most of the jawline is contoured by the frame that you have made in the step 2. However, that is not all that needs to be done for the perfect jawline. You need to make sure that the lines of the frame are perfect. Since it is the outer border of your face, you can easily shape it by the darker shades into any shape that you like. Make the most of it and don’t underestimate the importance of a proper jawline.
With these five steps and the proper products, your face will be perfectly contoured. All you need is a little practice and the search for the right tools and products that can sometimes take a while. However, it is worth it because the result is your beauty and confidence that you get from the makeup well done.
